Happy New Year, HCB! Welcome to 2026!
Your Recreation Committee loved providing the community with so many new activities in 2025! We already have a calendar full of activities for 2026! We have added new activities and are bringing back a few favorites from the past 2 years, including the “A Time to Reminisce Mixer” in June! This year’s mixer will be open to all the local 55+ communities! The Rec Committee will again celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and Columbus Day, and we look forward to welcoming residents to our 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Day Friendsgiving. We encourage everyone to start planning their scarecrow for next year’s Scarecrow Contest! Cooking Club, Book Club, Rec Ceramics, The Cookout Crew, The Walking Group, Arts & Crafts, The Library Volunteers, and Game Nights will all continue.
New in 2026 will be ‘Social Sundays’ and Wednesday Seminars, both free activities aimed at bringing friends together for fun, socializing, and even learning. Valentine’s Day brings the Rec Committee teaming up with the HCB Sanctioned Clubs (Bocce, Fishing & Social, Go-Getters, Melodiers, So-Sew, and Variety/Drama Club) for a PANCAKE BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER! We will be working together to present the community with a delicious breakfast, with the proceeds split among the Rec Comm & Clubs! On April 11th, we will welcome crafters, vendors, and guests to the HCB Indoor Bazaar! More information regarding signing up to sell will be available in February.
The Recreation Committee can do so much for the HCB Community because of our wonderful members! Members of the Recreation Committee can be as active as they want! The Rec Committee will meet on the first Tuesday of the Month at 4:30 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room in Clubhouse 1. You can ask any Rec Committee member about getting involved, or, if you are interested in a particular activity, reach out the member who leads that activity.

In closing, I would like to thank the HCB Community for the honor and privilege of serving as the Recreation Committee Chair over the past two years. I’ve been lucky to meet so many of you! I have had so very much fun! You have challenged and energized me. Your Recreation Committee will do even more great things for this community.
To the members of the Recreation Committee, I cannot begin to express my gratitude. You have made my job so much easier and more fulfilling. I look forward to remaining very active in this incredible committee as a member, continuing to work together as party of this team.
To the HCB Board and the sanctioned clubs, especially the Go-Getters, thank you for working with me to build a community that offers our residents many opportunities to enjoy. When we all work together to make HCB better, nothing can stop us! ---Patty
