Baby, It’s Cold Outside. The Melodiers lay to rest one of our own as Rose Balzano passed away in May. All of those who knew her will miss her dearly.
We are sleepy Melodiers. After back-to-back concerts, our members are taking a much needed break for the summer. We will be resuming rehearsals for our Christmas 2022 concert on Wednesday, August 24th in Clubhouse 2 at 4PM.
Anyone who would like to join is encouraged to come to that rehearsal. NO formal training is needed. NO auditions are given. All you need to join is a love for music and the desire to sing. EVERYONE is welcome to join the group as long as you live in the Holiday City Communities.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Harold Stewart at 201-982-3524 or 848-226-6972. If no answer, please leave a message.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The Gift Auction returned and was very successful and everyone had a great time. The selection of gifts was outstanding. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Thank you to the businesses who generously supported us, and thank you to the members who worked many hours to make this happen, and to everyone who came out to support us.
This has been an amazing year for our group as we celebrated our 50th Anniversary of raising money for help fulfill the wish lists of various departments of the hospital that add to the comfort of the patients. Holly Twig started in 1972 with less than ten members. Today we have over fifty members and we have plenty of room for you. We take a break for the summer, and we will be back in September. Come join us and be part of this group as we work together to make it possible to fulfill our Mission is to raise money to purchase comfort items for the patients of RWJ Barnabas Health/Community Medical Center. 100% of the profit of our fundraising goes into those items that are selected from a Wish List that is made up from various departments. In the past, we have contributed such items as warming blankets, reclining chairs and televisions for the patients, just to name a few. None of the money goes into the hospital operations.
It is important to mention that this hospital recognizes and respects the senior population in the area and continues to grow with our health issues in mind. This is the closest hospital, and the one you will go to in an emergency.
Even though it’s summer, our members continue to knit and crochet. We appreciate your donation of any weight yarn. The baby weight is turned into precious little caps for the new born babies to wear home. The heavier weight yarn is used to make other items which we sell at our boutique. Your support and generosity makes this possible. Please call Susan to arrange for pick it up. Approximately 1,200 babies are born each year at our hospital.
Holly Twig meets the second Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the H.C. Berkeley Clubhouse #2 - upper clubhouse. Being part of this group doesn’t take very much time, and is very rewarding. We look forward to meeting you. We do not have meetings in July and August.

Bocce started in April. The weather has not cooperated! We hope the remainder of the season will cooperate. On a positive note, courts have been worked on and are looking good.
Team captains are responsible for filling out and signing score sheets. Captains should ask their players to call if they can’t play. The team captain should then contact the coordinator, who will try to get a replacement. It is the responsibility of the team to put the paddles and balls back in the bocce shed. Please sweep your courts before leaving.

Where has the time gone? We’re now in May and we just achieved our second consecutive and successful performance. “Melodiers Melodies Of The Silver Screen” was seen by a large audience on May 1st and the reception was wonderful. It makes our hearts sing knowing that we are singing to put smiles on the faces of our friends, families and guests.
We also want to thank all of our guests and fans for not only their continued support, but for the generous donations of non-perishable food items that will be distributed to a local food pantry.
The Melodiers would also like to give a special shout out to Linda Roth. She stepped in as Choir Director this season and we could not have done it without her. She really helped our choir find focus and balance. Thank you so much Linda!
So what’s next on the agenda for the Melodiers. After our spring luncheon later this month, we will be taking a long needed break for the summer. Once we reunite and resume somewhere around late August, we will be prepping for our next Christmas concert. Maybe one of your favorite Christmas songs will be on the playlist as it will be different this year.
Thank you everyone for your support, for your donations and for your presence at our concert. You are the wind beneath our wings which gives us the motivation to continue singing our hearts out!
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Harold Stewart at 201-982-3524 or 848-226-6972.

It is with a heavy heart that the Variety and Drama Club have to announce a postponement of our May Revue. There have been some technical difficulties that go beyond our reach and simply couldn’t be fixed in time for our scheduled performances. As of now, the new performance dates will be one weekend around mid-October.
As they say, however, the show must go on and that’s exactly what we’re doing as rehearsals are still continuing every Tuesday night from 6:30-9:00PM until mid-June where we will be taking our summer hiatus. Once we return towards the end of August, our meeting times will go back to Monday and Tuesday evenings.
We are still looking for some new fresh people to join us. If you’d like to be a performer and act/sing on stage we could always use more people. We also are looking for a few good men and women to assist us as crew members backstage (including sound, lighting, microphones, etc.)
If you have any questions about the group, please contact Steve Abramson at 609-661-0794. If you have any questions about the Musical Revue please contact Linda Roth at 201-873-1185
Come join the spotlight and see you on the stage!
