The HCB Golf Club is no longer a sanctioned club.  Due to the low number of members from the community we have decided to end the club.  The last few years our club really functioned as a golf league.  Replacing the club will be a Friday golf league.  This league is open to men/women from the area and not limited to HCB  residents.
The balance in the treasury ($31) was donated to St. Judes in memory of Reis Kain, secretary, who passed away this past December.
The golf league ( Friday Golf League) plays every Friday starting at 9am at the Cedar Creek Golf Course.  Membership is $35 per person for league play.  Our first meeting for signups will be Thursday April 24th, 10am at Cedar Creek Golf Course.  League play runs from May thru September. We have a limit of 28 people for the league.
Please attend this meeting to learn more about the league and the good times we have playing every Friday during the spring and summer months.

RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers University have partnered together to create the state’s largest academic health care system dedicated to providing high-quality patient care, leading-edge research, and world-class health and medical education that will transform and advance health care in New Jersey.
Our facility has received the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for various programs, including our Stroke and Total Joint Replacement-Hip and Knee programs (among others). Our Cancer Center is also recognized by the Commission on Cancer of The American College of Surgeons as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our Breast Center is also the only accredited center by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) in Atlantic and Ocean Counties.
Holly Twig will be celebrating our 53rd anniversary this month, April. We proudly work on fund raising projects to help purchase items to improve the quality of the patients’ stay while at RWJ Barnabas Health/Community Medical Center that are not included in the regular operating budget.
Our largest project of the year is always the Annual Gift Auction which will be Wednesday, June 11th at the HC Berkeley Clubhouse 2, located at 631 Jamaica Blvd. The price of the tickets is $15 which will be your admission and one sheet of prize tickets. This year our prize value will be a minimum of $50. Local businesses, theater companies and sports venues have been very generous. Please call for tickets or see one of our members.
Holly Twig continues to accept donations of yarn which is used to make baby hats for the newborns to wear home and hats and lap blankets for the oncology department.
The Second Time Around thrift and consignment shop which is operated by the Community Medical Center Auxiliary is most definitely one of Toms River’s hidden gems. The shop will be celebrating its 50th anniversary next October. When it first opened it was began tucked away in the basement of the hospital. Today it is a department store with a huge variety of items for everyone. It is tucked out of sight off Route 37 on Industrial Way. This is another worthwhile place to volunteer to make a difference.

The HCB Veterans Committee has decided to honor veterans in our HCB Community with military banners on our light poles throughout the clubhouse property.  If you received a special commendation (Silver Star, Bronze Star, Distinguished Medal of Honor and/or Purple Heart), we would like to invite you to have a banner hung in your name free of charge.  To all others, you can be honored for your service as well, for a nominal fee.  We will have room for 44 veteran banners, but there’s a possibility of more in the future. We estimate the cost to be approximately $50. It’s a great gift idea for a birthday or Father’s Day.
We would like to have these banners on display in time for our Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony on May 26, 2025.   If you would like to participate, we would need the following:
Full Name
Branch of the Military
Rank
Years served
A photo (in military dress is preferred but not necessary)
Completed Veterans Registry
Please drop these items off at the HCB office by March 31, 2025.  We will contact you with the cost after receiving these items.  Any questions, please call 732-382-7158.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 10th at 12:00pm in the Club House One. Coffee and donuts will be served at 11:30am before the meeting. Membership in the club does not require fishing; it is a social and fishing club. During our January and February meetings members renewed their memberships for 2025, and we had a record signup of new members. Many thanks to Ed Longhorn that during our February meeting gave a talk and demonstration on the "Art of Fly Fishing", allowing many members to participate. Members who celebrated Valentine's Day with card, some containing lottery tickets, special treats, and enjoyed good company. Several member renewed their memberships for 2025, and there were new member registrations for the year. The March trip to Fortune Buffet has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict with HCB's St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner. During the April meeting, there will be a guest speaker from S&D Video Lab presenting on "Saving Family Memories."

The 2025 Schedule of Events will be finalized during the March meeting. Attendees are encouraged to join for coffee, donuts, and an opportunity to spend time with club members. For more information, contact John Gindhart at (907) 671-0460.

On November 9, 2024, the Veterans Committee hosted a dinner dance to celebrate Veterans Day. We had the honor of having NJ State Senator Carmen Amato, Berkeley Mayor John Bacchione and Councilwoman Sofia Gingrich as our distinguished guests, among others. At that time it was announced that Berkeley Township would be the first in our state of New Jersey to be home to the Tunnels to Towers project. This new community will be home to many deserving veterans. There will be 123 units and many 24/7 services in the Veteran Village. They expect this project to be completed in 2026.

With the approval of our Board of Directors, half of the monies raised at our dance will be donated to the Tunnels to Towers project.

In addition, the Veterans Committee will honor our own veterans who resident in HCB with banners on the clubhouse property. Any veterans who had been decorated, will have a banner with their photo, rank and branch of the military on display, free of charge. Any other vets who would like a banner in their tribute can purchase one for a nominal cost. The Veterans Committee hopes to have these banners on display in time for our Memorial Day Ceremony. If you are a decorated veteran, please fill out the Veterans Registry so you can be a part of this tribute.
