In April, Holly Twig proudly celebrated 54 years of dedicated fundraising. To mark this special milestone, we enjoyed a lovely anniversary luncheon at Italy’s Best.
On a more somber note, we lost a longtime member, Millie Delgado. Millie was an active and cherished part of our group, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Looking to May, we are excited to attend the Annual CMCAA Tea at the hospital—always a beautiful event that brings together the volunteers.
Gift auction tickets are now available and can be purchased at Berkeley Clubhouse 2 on Tuesday afternoons at 2:30-4:00 p.m. before BINGO, as well as at the mini-mall on Friday mornings. Tickets are $20 and include a door prize ticket, a sheet of red table tickets, a gold table ticket, bottled water, and assorted sweet treats. Guests are welcome to bring additional snacks. When you purchase six or more tickets, you may reserve a table for your group. This popular event always sells out, so be sure to get your tickets early. The auction will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, with doors opening at 12:30 p.m. Please bring snacks or lunch and have a great afternoon.
In August, Holly Twig will host our Annual High Tea Luncheon at the beautiful Mathis House, located at 600 Main Street. Seating begins at 11:00 a.m. This elegant five-course experience will include soup, salad, scones, tea sandwiches, dessert, and, of course, plenty of tea. Seating is limited, so watch for upcoming flyers and plan to purchase your tickets early—whether for yourself or a table of friends. It’s sure to be a memorable and delicious afternoon.
All proceeds from our events are donated to the hospital to help fulfill “wish list” items requested by various departments—needs that fall outside the regular operating budget. Each department may submit requests for items up to $5,000. Your continued support and generosity make it possible for these important wishes to be granted.
One of our ongoing fundraising efforts is our partnership with Second Time Around, creating a true win-win opportunity. We gladly accept new or gently used items, which are consigned under Holly Twig’s account. It’s a wonderful shop full of hidden treasures—you never know what you might find!
We also continue to collect donations of new, soft yarn. Our talented members use these materials year-round to create baby hats for newborns, as well as chemo hats, shawls, and lap blankets for patients in the oncology department.
Holly Twig meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at Clubhouse 2 in Holiday City Berkeley. Meetings begin with coffee and conversation, often followed by an engaging program before our business session. We always welcome new faces and invite you to join us.
