Our Mission is to raise money to purchase items to make the patients’ stay more comfortable while at RWJ Barnabas Health/Community Medical Center. 100% of the profit of our fundraising goes into those items that are selected from a Wish List that is made up from various departments.  In the past, we have contributed such items as warming blankets, reclining chairs and televisions for the patients, just to name a few.

If you would like to make a donation to remember a special occasion or loved one, please consider making your donation to Holly Twig.  We will send a special note to the person or family you are remembering or honoring letting them know the donation came from you.

Here is what is coming up:

Wednesday, August 16th, we welcome a new vendor to the hospital, who sells sports memorabilia. The sale will be located in the outpatient lobby. Everyone is welcome to come and shop.  It isn’t too early to start thinking of the holidays. The hours are from 7:30AM to 3:00PM.

Tuesday, September 5th, Mary Kay products will be on sale in the outpatient lobby. The hours are 7:30AM to 3:00PM. There is no time like the present to pamper yourself or someone special.

Friday, September 29th, D&D Jewelry will return with their beautiful inventory of merchandise in the outpatient lobby with the hours of 7:30AM to 3:00PM. There will be beautiful items to give as holiday gifts or a gift to say “I love you” to someone special.

Other upcoming events will be the $500 gift card raffle, and the November Holiday Boutique.

Our talented Holly Twig members, who knit and crochet, continue to make hats for the newborn babies to wear home as well as making hats for patients on the Oncology Floor to make them more comfortable.  Please call MaryLou, if you have soft yarn in any colors to donate. All of our hats are made by Holly Twig members, and we use approved patterns.  Your generous donations of yarn help to make this happen.

Community Medical Center is excited to now offer FREE valet parking for patients and visitors.  This service is available Monday – Friday from 6:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the hospital’s main entrance.  When arriving at the main entrance to the hospital, you will be greeted by an attendant who will provide you with a valet ticket prior to entering the building.  When you leave the hospital, return your ticket to the attendant, and they will retrieve your car.

The Red Ball Is Closer! – No The Green Ball Is Closer! – How do I respond to that argument?  Who cares!!!
Casual Bocce is back for its incredible FIFTH season!!!

Casual Bocce is the same game that you already know and love; bocce without the set teams or measuring the balls.  Or maybe you don’t know the game and want to give it a try?

Games are currently held on Tuesdays from 9-11AM at the Bocce courts next to Clubhouse 1.  This stays in effect until mid July.  Effective July 15th, it moves to Saturdays at the same time.  While there is always room for everyone to play, it is encouraged to call ahead to make sure there is a game going or that there is room.
We are NOT associated with the Official Bocce League which will run concurrently earlier in the week.  For the Official Bocce League information, please see their post right here in the newsletter
For any questions or information, call Steve Abramson at 609-661-0794.

Community Medical Center (formerly Community Memorial Hospital) first opened its doors on September 15, 1961 with 50 beds and 15 physicians on staff and 90 employees.
Community Medical Center cares for more than 28,000 inpatients, 127,700 outpatients and 100,000 emergency department patients each year with 592 beds, more than 670 physicians on staff and 2,900 employees. It is a 592-bed, fully accredited acute care teaching hospital offering area residents of our area high quality, highly sophisticated medical treatment close to home.
All of us would like to thank you for supporting Holly Twig! Our gift auction was wonderful, and we are taking a well deserved break for the summer. There are no meetings in July and August. We are, however, planning fundraising activities for the fall. The Holiday Boutique in November is already being worked on, and more wonderful vendor sales are coming up. All of these sales are open to the public, so your continued support is appreciated.
