Holly Twig meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in Clubhouse 2 at Holiday City Berkeley. We begin each meeting with coffee and conversation, often followed by an interesting program before moving into our business meeting.
Our members are always finding creative and meaningful ways to raise funds for Community Medical Center. These funds help purchase much-needed items that fall outside the hospital’s general budget. Each hospital department may submit a “wish” request for items valued up to $5,000. Your donations and purchases make it possible for these “wishes” to be granted. Thank you for your continued support.
One of our ongoing fundraising efforts is our partnership with Second Time Around, creating a true win-win opportunity. We gratefully accept new or gently used items, which are then consigned under Holly Twig’s account at Second Time Around. When an item sells, 50% of the proceeds go to Holly Twig and 50% to Second Time Around—resulting in 100% of the funds benefiting the hospital. As you declutter or make room for something new, please think of Holly Twig and call to arrange a donation.

• The Tupperware Lady returning to the hospital on March 25 and 26
Holly Twig also continues to accept donations of new, soft yarn. Our members lovingly use this yarn to create baby hats for newborns, as well as chemo hats, shawls, and lap blankets for patients in the oncology department.

The Variety & Drama Club are proud to announce our new show “Sunshine Village” on February 21st. Join The Honeymooners, The Beverly Hillbillies and Lucy & Ricky, as they adjust to Retirement Living ! Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 9th, at 12:00 PM in Club House One. We are excited to announce that our guest speaker will be Bill Smidt, Hindenburg Historian regarding the Hindenburg disaster which occurred in Lakehurst, NJ . For those who didn’t attend our meeting last month, we will also be collecting 2026 dues and issuing new ID badges. The dues will remain at $10 for the year. If you plan to renew your membership, please be prepared to do so at the meeting. We also warmly welcome new members to join our club.
Members are invited to enjoy coffee and donuts at 11:30 AM, just before our meeting begins at noon. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow members in a relaxed setting.
We would like to remind everyone that while fishing is a part of what we do, our club is, at its core, a social club. Many of our members enjoy fishing, but it is not a requirement to join. We welcome anyone interested in social activities, whether or not you fish.
We are looking forward to a great year, and are already making plans for our Annual Picnic at John Bartlett County Park in June, a great event for our members and their families, there’s even a waterpark for the grandchildren.
Upcoming Events and Meetings
• February 22nd: Come to Clubhouse One and relive your high school years! There will be an audio/visual presentation on American Bandstand Philadelphia, a high school cafeteria lunch, era music, and a surprise entertainer. The cost is $20 per person. Tickets will be available on the first and third Tuesdays in Clubhouse One between 12:00 and 1:00 PM. Dress in the style of the era!
• March 9th Meeting: The Berkeley Township Senior Center will provide information about services available to seniors and explain how to apply. - This will be followed by a pre-Easter luncheon (cost to be announced).
• March 17th, Tuesday lunch at Ocean County Vo-tech School, time and cost to be announced at our meeting in February.
• March 21st, Saturday: Join us for our Fishing Luncheon at noon in Clubhouse One. The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Reservations are required. Tickets can be purchased at our meetings or during ticket sales in Clubhouse One between 12:00 and 1:00 PM on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
• April 13th Meeting: Chris, an Ocean County Parks Naturalist, will present a program on Barnegat Bay.
• May 11th: Birding in Ocean County by Josh, Naturalist from Ocean County Parks.

Perhaps this year your New Year’s resolution was to de-clutter your home. Please donate your gently used or new items that we can sell at Second Time Around. We have partnered with the Second Time Around Shop in a win/win fundraising project and here is how it works. You donate item to Holly Twig, then we consign under our account to Second time around. The item sells and Holly Twig gets 50% of the sale, Second Time Around get 50% of the sale, and the hospital ends up with 100% of the sale. What could be better than that? As you are de-cluttering your home or just making room for fresh new things, be sure to think of us and call to arrange to donate to us.

You may recognize me as Mary Davis, Badge Checker, or perhaps as Mary HCB Security Guard. I will now put on another hat, Mary Davis, Recreation Committee Chair…
Under my direction, your Recreation Committee Volunteers and I, remain committed to working together to make HCB a wonderful place to call home!
I'd like to thank everyone who participated in our Holiday Celebrations! Pictures with Santa in conjunction with the Melodiers Concert was wonderful! We really have the best Santa!
The Toms River Multigenerational Orchestra was a huge success! The kind donations of those in attendance raised over $1000 to help keep that program going!
Despite the weather challenges, we had a good number of houses participate in the House Decorating Contest. This year’s Winners are:

Just a reminder, some of the big events coming up including our Share the Love Pancake Breakfast with all 6 of HCB’s Sanctioned Clubs! Out ‘Tuesday at 8” concert, and of course, our St Patrick’s Day Dinner in March! Craft Night, Game Night, Wed. Seminar, Book Club, Cooking club, Ceramics, and the Library Volunteers all continue to meet. Look for the announcement about forming a dart & shuffleboard league in this month’s paper.
Keep track of all Rec Committee Activities through our Facebook group, the HCB Website, the monthly paper, and our bulletin Board across from the game room in CH1. The Rec Committee will be meeting on the first Tuesday of the month in the Arts & Crafts Room at 4:30.

Hope everyone had a happy holiday and are ready for the new year.

The Holiday City Berkeley Melodiers want to thank everyone who came out to our holiday concert on December 7! We do these concerts for the love of music and for all of you! We truly appreciate you all.
After taking a short hiatus, we will be back in January to start preparing for our spring concert, which will be held May 3rd. More info to follow!
Our next meeting will be January 7, 2026 in Clubhouse 2 from 5pm-7pm.

The Variety & Drama Club are currently rehearsing for our next show which is scheduled for Saturday, February 21st at 2pm.
The show is called “Sunshine Village”. Join The Honeymooners, The Beverly Hillbillies and Lucy & Ricky as they adjust to retirement living in sunny Florida.
The Variety & Drama Club are very happy that we can continue to provide this wonderful amenity to our community.
As always, we are continuing to plan exciting fundraising events to help offset the costs of productions...so please support us when you can.
